MONKS AT PRAYER

This gathering together five times a day to pray in common is what marks the life of a monastic community. Liturgical prayer is the centre of all monastic life and, because "liturgy" has its roots in "work", the monastic liturgy is the "Work of God" - the Opus Dei. It springs from the life and work of the community and centers and grounds all the rest of our life together. ...

Br. Robert James Magliula's Life Profession

We began 2011 with an appropriate and wonderful event.

Br. Robert James Magliula made his Life Profession as a monk on the Feast of the Holy Name in the monastery chapel at 11am. The Superior of the Order of the Holy Cross, Br. Robert Sevensky, preached the sermon, received his vow and welcomed him into the Order, with the community and many friends of the community witnessing. Br. Robert James' close friend of many years, the Rev. Janet Vincent, from Washington, DC, was the celebrant for the Eucharist. Rev. Janet preached at Br. Robert James' First Profession, two years ago. Br. Robert James' nephew, John Magliula, was also in attendance, all the way from Long Beach, California.

Following the ceremony, a reception took place in the refectory for the many well-wishers.
